As if there isn’t enough fun already on tap in Toronto this weekend – what with World Pride, the TD Toronto Jazz festival, the CHIN picnic, and The Robbie International Soccer Tournament just to name a few – add to the mix the World Cup of soccer which resumes in Brazil with the kick-off of Round-of-16 games.
And that means hordes of Toronto fans will all be heading to their favourite spots to take in the games.
Here’s a quick view of the schedule, basically two games a day from Saturday through to Tuesday, July 1, starting at noon and 4 p.m. Toronto time.
SATURDAY, June 28: Brazil/Chile noon; Columbia/Uruguay 4 p.m.
SUNDAY, June 29: Netherlands/Mexico noon; Costa Rica/Greece 4 p.m.
MONDAY, June 30: France/Nigeria noon; Germany/Algeria 4 p.m.
TUESDAY, July 1: Argentina/Switzerland noon; Belgium/USA 4 p.m.
The largest gathering in Toronto prompted by those Round-of-16 match-ups could very well be the Sunday, 4 p.m. game between Greece and Costa Rica which is certain to bring pandemonium to Toronto’s official Greektown on Danforth Avenue (just west of Chester to just east of Jones avenues).
