Now that we’ve turned back the clock, we’re living with even more darkness.

Despite the days getting shorter, here are some ideas to bring sunshine and happiness into your life.

1. Get outside everyday

Play with your kids in the park or go for a walk with your dog.

2. Take vitamin D

It’s called the sunshine vitamin. Doctors say all Canadians should take this vitamin throughout the fall and winter.

3. Eat more citrus

Oranges, grapefruit, lemons and limes make you think of sunshine - and warmth.

4. Plan a winter getaway

Hit the slopes for the weekend or head south for a longer sunny getaway.

5. Visit the Centennial Park Conservatory or Allan Gardens

You’ll be surrounded by plants, sunshine and warmth throughout the cold winter months.

6. An indoor picnic or dinner party

Although it might seem odd, an indoor picnic with your kids or planning a dinner party with your friends and serve foods that make you happy and healthy.

7. Spend each day doing something you enjoy

Take time to meditate, do yoga, exercise, bake, read a book - anything that brings a smile to your face.
