The Lakeshore Village Business Improvement Area (BIA) is searching for an artist to bring its summer mural project to fruition.
In honour of the 50th anniversary of the Canadian flat, the BIA wants to develop a mural on the TNT building wall at the corner of Islington Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard.
The deadline for submissions is July 4. Interested artists are required to submit the following: design proposals, artist’s statement outlining relevant experiences and general description for the mural and a minimum of three images of previous artwork with dates, dimensions and the artist’s role in the project.

Artists may submit more than one design proposal. The timeline of the project is August to September.
The project is being funded by grant from the City of Toronto, along with help from the BIA.
The successful applicant will be named in July.

***Supporters raised $6,000 for Arts Etobicoke
It was a full plate of entertainment and goodwill at the 5th Annual Artful Palate Fundraiser to benefit Arts Etobicoke.
The event, which took place on June 11, raised $6,000 for the arts organization in its effort to provide high-quality arts education for local families and to promote and nurture diverse artists along with reaching out to children and youth in underserved communities.
The event took place at Cirillo’s Culinary Academy and featured performances, cooking demonstrations, tasting stations and a silent auction. Since the fundraiser began, the group has raised $25,000 for its programming.

Just because school is out, learning something new doesn’t have to end.
Albion library is hosting a collage art afternoon for teens.
It takes place on Wednesday, July 2 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the branch located at 1515 Albion Rd.
Youth will make a collage using recycled magazines and comics. All materials provided.

***Explore your creative side at summer camps
Explore, create and collaborate at Neilson Park Creative Centre’s Artsmartz 2014 Art Summer Day Camp.
Children signed up for the program, will spend half of the day with the week’s instructor, and the other half working on themed art and craft projects. There’s a new theme every week from ‘Outer Space’ to ‘Under the Sea’.
Children will be able to take their work home at the end of the week.
The summer camp starts on July 2 and runs until Aug. 22.
