Carleton Village Junior and Senior Public School in the Davenport and Old Weston roads-area is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year.
The school is hosting a celebratory event Thursday, Dec. 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Village Junior and Senior Sports and Wellness Academy, 315 Osler St.
First opened in 1889, the school has gone through many name changes throughout the decades. It became Davenport Road Public School in 1945, and in 1988 it was twinned with Osler Senior School and renamed Carleton Village Junior and Senior Public School. Now, it is Carleton Village Junior and Senior Sports and Wellness Academy.

"Carleton Village has truly been a caring village for so many years," said principal Lorelei Eccleston in a statement. "It’s an honour for the staff here today to carry on a tradition of excellence, forged by all of the caring professionals that have taught and nurtured students here before us. They have had a powerful impact in shaping students’ life-long successes, and in connecting to the community in meaningful ways."
