Urban forestry crews were out Tuesday morning cleaning up Pacific Avenue, just north of High Park after high winds toppled a majestic city tree Monday, Nov. 24.
Pacific Avenue in the Bloor West Village and surrounding area was hit hard by the storm. Just a few blocks north at Pacific and Glenlake avenues, a Toronto Hydro crew was repairing downed hydro wires.
As of noon Tuesday, Toronto Hydro said as many as 1,000 customers in the city remained without power after Monday’s wind storm.
"Crews continue to work diligently on restoration and are making progress," Toronto Hydro tweeted.
Davenport Councillor Ana Bailao said she had no reports of power outages in Ward 18 due to last night’s wind storm, however, for those who have, Toronto Hydro issued a few tips.
If your power in your neighbourhood has been restored, yet your power is still out, check to see if your neighbours have power; if they don’t, it’s likely more work is needed done on your street.
Check your electrical panel inside the home to see if the breakers are in the "on" position, check outside and visually inspect if the electrical equipment on your home is damaged or if the service wire is down. If the customer-owned connection point (usually the pipe and wires attached to your home connected to the power line) is damaged, you will need to contact an ESA-certified electrical contractor.
