Weather-permitting, the 143 Downtown-Beach Express Route will be diverting its usual westbound route starting Monday, Jan. 12.
The diversion is expected to last until December 2015.
The route change is required as the City of Toronto will be beginning major construction on Eastern Avenue between Woodfield Road and Knox Avenue.
As part of this project, the TTC will also be reconstructing its aging streetcar track on the north side of Eastern Avenue between Connaught Avenue and Minto Street starting in late June 2015.
During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane eastbound through the work zone requiring the diversion of the westbound express bus.
Eastbound buses will continue to run their normal routes.
Those using public transit are advised to expect service delays and factor in additional time in their travel plans.
The TTC will be monitoring service along the route during the construction work. Transit users are welcome to provide feedback on the performance and impact on service during the course of the construction.
The TTC is promising to make every effort to provide riders with updates on the diversion. Details can be found at www.ttc.ca
