The East York Blue Devils U16 girls soccer team won the championship of Scarborough’s prestigious Robbie International Soccer Tournament this week.

The East York girls took the title with a 3-0 win over the Chinook United team of Calgary, Alberta in the championship match on Monday, June 30, afternoon in Birchmount Stadium.

Goal scorers for East York were Kaelyn Johnson, with a pair, and Zoe Docouto. The shutout for the Blue Devils was earned by goalie Yasmeen Jamieson.

The championship game victory sealed what had been a perfect Robbie tournament for the Blue Devils, who did not allow a goal against in all five matches they played.

Goalie Jamieson recorded all five shutouts for the Blue Devils in the tournament.

The Blue Devils were one of three Toronto-based teams to reach Robbie championship games at the tournament.

The Wexford Shockwave boys U15 team won their division with a 4-1 win over Ottawa Gloucester.

In the boys U16 final, Toronto’s Masters Futbol Academy Catalans fell 2-0 to the Kitchener Spirit 98A.

In girls U13, the Woolwich Wolfpack beat North Mississauga 3-1.

In boys U13, Brampton Blast defeated Ajax FC Red 1-0.

In girls U14, the Aurora Stingers (Team 1) beat the Pickering Power Green 3-1.

In boys U14, the Markham Lightning edged Dixie Athletics 1-0.

In girls U15, Ajax FC 99 White beat Dixie Athletics Black 1-0 in a match decided in penalty kicks.

In girls U17, the Woodbridge Strikers beat the Oshawa Kicks Avengers 2-0

In boys U17/18, the Montego Bay United FC All-Stars, from Jamaica, beat the Lakeshore Rangers, from Quebec, 1-0 in a game that was also decided in penalty kicks.

This is the 48th year for The Robbie, which is Canada’s largest youth soccer tournament for charity.
