Rosemary Salvatore is well known at Markland Wood Golf Club where she has been a member for 45 years.
Her father was one of the original members when the Etobicoke club opened in 1964 and he had a strong influence on Salvatore’s golf career which she kicked off at the club when she was just 10 years old.
She went on to win her club championship 29 times – a huge accomplishment.
"She is a true competitor and has been a mentor to many golfers rising up through the system," said Joanne Noble, chair of the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame board of governors, in a press release announcing the Etobicoke born-and-raised golf veteran as the athlete of the month for June.
"She has also organized numerous club events throughout her years and is very well respected in the golf community. You will always see Rosemary surrounded by her many friends."
When Markland Wood Golf Club played host to the Toronto Star Women’s Amateur this week, which annually attracts some of the country’s top amateur golfers, Noble said it was "only fitting that Rosemary tee’d it up once again."
