Hillcrest Village Business Improvement Area (BIA) is hoping to attract visitors to its section of St. Clair Avenue with a wine tasting event Saturday, June 28.
St. Clair Uncorked will run along St. Clair from Christie Street to Winona Drive, where visitors are encouraged to move from store to store to sample wines, said Anne Marie Cole of the Hillcrest Village BIA.
"I had this idea we should have a wine event because there are a lot of restaurants, and a lot of people who like wine in the neighbourhood," Cole said. "It’s not something that’s really been done on St. Clair. My mandate is to generate activity on St. Clair and plan to continue (St. Clair Uncorked) next year. We wanted to create an event not just for the restaurants’ benefit, but to bring more traffic to St. Clair West. It made sense to do something around food and beverage."

Wine sample tickets will be for sale in packs of 10 on event day at 747 St. Clair Ave. W. and 803 St. Clair Ave. W. Packs cost $20 and tickets must be used between 1 and 6 p.m.
Proceeds will benefit charity About Face, an organization providing emotional, peer and social support and educational programs to individuals with facial disfigurements and their families.
"We’re hoping to run out of tickets and double our numbers next year," Cole said, adding wine expert Zoltan Szabo will take part in the event.
