For the second time, TEGH has received the Order of Excellence Award for Quality and Healthy Workplace, which is the highest honour. The annual awards program recognizes outstanding achievements by organizations in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors from across Canada. This year marks the organization’s 30th anniversary.
"We are so very proud to bestow Canada Awards for Excellence upon recipients like Toronto East General Hospital," said Gary Seveny, chair of the board of governors of Excellence Canada.

"TEGH is a role model of excellence in the areas of leadership, employee engagement, innovation and wellness and we applaud its outstanding achievement."
The award is TEGH’s fifth national award, which makes the local healthcare centre the most decorated organization in Excellence Canada’s history as well as the only hospital to win the award.
"I’m very proud of our accomplishments and commitment to creating a healthy work environment where our staff feels fully supported professionally, physically and mentally," said Rob Devitt, TEGH’s president and CEO, in a recent release.
"Congratulations to our staff, physicians and volunteers. This award belongs to them. A great working environment translates to the best and highest quality of care and ultimately it’s our patients who benefit."
