Police have arrested a man believed responsible for two Danforth Avenue bank robberies—one attempted, one successful—last week.
According to Toronto Police, Jesse Pelletier, 33, was arrested on an unrelated matter on Jan. 26—but subsequently charged with the two holdups that had happened two days earlier.
The first attempt happened at 10:50 a.m. at the Scotiabank located at 649 Danforth Avenue. There, a masked man entered the bank, approached a teller and handed a hold-up note demanding money.

The teller was having none of it, and refused to comply. The suspect ran off empty-handed.
Just 14 minutes later, the same masked man entered the Bank of Montreal at 518 Danforth Avenue, approached a teller and handed her a holdup note. This time, the teller complied and the masked man fled with an unspecified amount of cash.
Pelletier, of Toronto, faces multiple charges: two counts of robbery, two counts of disguise with intent, two counts of failing to comply with probation, failing to comply with recognizance, theft under $5,000 and assault to resist arrest.
