Holiday festivities and a subway closure headline this weekend’s planned major road and transit closures:
SANTA CLAUS PARADE
The 110th edition of the parade kicks off Sunday, Nov. 16 at 12:30 p.m. from Christie Pits and continues until Santa Claus arrives at the St. Lawrence Market for 4 p.m. Over that time there are multiple major road closures along the parade route including: Bloor Street West, Queen’s Park Crescent, University Avenue West, Wellington Street West, Front Street East and Jarvis Street. Also from 2:30 to 4 p.m., Front Street will be closed from Church to Jarvis streets, along with Scott Street, from Wellington to Front, to allow for a parade dispersal route.

BLOOR-DANFORTH LINE
On Saturday, Nov. 15 there’s no subway service between Kennedy and Warden stations due to scheduled track upgrade work. Over the closure, the TTC will run replacement buses between the stations, and there will be an accessible shuttle service running between Kennedy and Victoria Park stations.
YORK STREET
The street, between Harbour Street and Lake Shore Boulevard will be closed for nearly all of Saturday, from 1 a.m. to 11 p.m. for construction entailing hoisting a mobile crane. During the closure, southbound traffic on York Street will be diverted to Lake Shore, and cars coming from the Gardiner Expressway as well as northbound on York will have to detour to Harbour. The city recommends making use of Yonge Street, Bay Street and Spadina Avenue as alternative north-south routes.
On Saturday between 3 and 7 p.m. Bremner Boulevard, from York Street to Lake Shore Boulevard, will close for a tree lighting ceremony and concert performances right outside the Air Canada Centre.
