The whole Crossroads of the Danforth - the part of southwest Scarborough where Danforth Road and Danforth Avenue meet - is about to become an art gallery.
Two month-long art projects, Wallflower and Spaces We Live In, are being launched at a party in the neighbourhood next week.
In a release, Scarborough Arts said the Crossroads "will come alive with artists of all stripes" thanks to the projects, which are part of a larger City of Toronto program bringing art to South Scarborough called Cultural Hotspot - East.
A free opening reception for both projects which also features performances is at a community hub, AccessPoint on Danforth, next Tuesday, July 8, from 5 to 7 p.m., following a 4 p.m. walking tour of the "location-specific artworks" placed for Wallflower in local restaurants, auto shops, offices and other buildings between Victoria Park and Scotia avenues.
Access Point is at 3079 Danforth Ave., east of Victoria Park. The hub itself is the site of Spaces We Live In, which includes performances of music and poetry as well as an installation by artist Kalpna Patel at different times in July.
There will also be a closing reception at the hub on July 28.
The Crossroads of the Danforth area is part of the Oakridge neighbourhood, which was declared a neighbourhood improvement area by the city this year.
