As the weather heats up in Toronto dipping, diving or cannonballing into a pool has never sounded more desirable. With the Toronto Islands beaches indefinitely closed due to flooding, outdoor swimming options may seem limited this summer.
Don't fret - there are 58 free public outdoor pools across the city, with most of them opening mid-June.
Here are some of the city's best pools.
1873 Bloor St.W.
With its wooded areas and walking trails, High Park is one of Toronto's most popular summer destinations. As well as Grenadier Pond and the High Park Zoo, you can add High Park's outdoor pool with a giant waterslide as another reason to visit. After enjoying a swim explore the park's lands, hop on the trackless train and stop by to visit the city's infamous capybaras. Opens Saturday, June 24, 2017.
15 Felstead Ave
Monarch Park's outdoor swimming pool features a 25-metre long pool, a diving area, raised seating section and - most importantly - a two storey water slide. In addition to a swimming pool, there is also wading pool for the little ones to splash around in. Swimming lessons for all ages are also offered at the pool. Opens Saturday, June 24, 2017.
1867 Lake Shore Blvd E
The Olympic-sized pool at Woodbine Park comes with a view of the Beaches if you don't feel like braving a dip in Lake Ontario. The popular facility features a 50-metre size pool, a 25-metre training pool, and a separate diving pool. Opens Saturday, June 17, 2017.
Alex Duff Memorial Pool (Christie Pits Park)
779 Crawford St, Toronto
Alex Duff Outdoor Pool is located at the edge of Christie Pits Park. There's a 25-metre lap pool, a shallow splash pool for children, a conversation pool and a deep pool for diving that features a two storey water slide. Baseball fan? The conversation pool has a great view of the park's baseball field, allowing you to take in any games happening below. Opens Saturday, June 17, 2017.
550 Broadview Ave
The Riverdale Park Outdoor Pool is located at the North entrance of the park and offers both leisure swim and adult lane swim. Riverdale Park is also well known for its beautiful views of downtown Toronto's skyline. After taking a dip in their pool take in the sunset from one of the top places to in the city. 1755 Lake Shore Blvd. W.
You can enjoy a day of swimming right next to the city's shoreline. Sunnyside Gus Ryder Pool is located at the foot of Lakeshore Blvd. & Parkside Drive and offers morning swimming lessons for all ages. Public and adult swims follow, available every day of the week. Opens Saturday, June 17, 2017.
25 Eleventh St
Rotary Park in Etobicoke is another park with a scenic view and offers a variety of activities in addition to their outdoor pool. Spend the day splashing around and then explore the park's baseball diamonds, tennis courts, a splash pad and trail that ends at a point overlooking Lake Ontario. Opens Saturday, June 24, 2017.
150 Greenwood Ave
Greenwood Park Outdoor Pool features a 35-metre shallow pool and a large pool deck with raised seating. The park itself is a great spot to picnic, so swimmers can make a day out of it (just remember what your mom told you and wait an hour after eating before you dive in!). Opens Saturday, June 24, 2017.
